Ukraine's black forest brigade deals heavy blow to Russian radar

The Ukrainian Black Forest brigade effectively uses reconnaissance drones and HIMARS systems to destroy enemy targets. Commanders admit that the Russians are still advancing, but the price they pay is high. They suffer losses in both personnel and expensive equipment.

The Black Forest brigade in Ukraine, utilizing reconnaissance drones, effectively destroys key Russian targets such as Nebo-M radar stations. These advanced radar systems play a crucial role in Russia's air defence, and their destruction weakens Putin's forces by reducing their ability to detect and monitor airspace.

Thanks to ATACMS missiles, which can be launched from the ground, Ukrainian forces have gained new capabilities to strike targets deep within enemy territory. According to specialists, the use of these missiles allows Ukraine to create "air corridors" for effective combat operations.

A painful blow for the Russians

Ukrainian commanders emphasize that Storm Shadow missiles differ significantly from HIMARS. "There's a big 'boom,' and there's a hole in the ground; nobody moves," describes Lieutenant Kostjantin from the Black Forest brigade in an interview with "The Times."

In October, Kostjantin's brigade located a Russian Nebo-M station in Russian-controlled eastern Ukraine, capable of monitoring the sky several hundred kilometres to the west. It's believed that Russia has only ten such systems, each costing about 100 million dollars.

It took about 50 minutes for combat drones to locate the station and designate the spot for the ATACMS missile strike.

A month later, the administration of President Joe Biden agreed to allow Ukrainians to carry out attacks on targets deep within Russia. Donald Trump criticized this decision, commenting on the escalation of the conflict.

The Ukrainian Black Forest brigade claims that with Western weapons, it destroyed about 30 Russian air defence systems, including an S-400 anti-aircraft missile battery.
