Ukraine's red line: Zelensky firm against territorial concessions

Volodymyr Zelensky spoke again about the Tuesday conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. The President of Ukraine clearly stated that Kyiv will not recognize the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia as Russian. He emphasized that this is a "red line" for Ukraine.

Zelensky was asked about American-Russian talks during a press conference while visiting Helsinki.

Zelensky declared that every negotiation is a chance to end the war. He also assessed that "the Russians are not yet ready to end the war."

Shortly after Trump's phone call with Putin in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, an alarm was announced on Tuesday evening. Explosions and anti-aircraft artillery fire were heard.

Journalists asked Zelensky, among other things, whether Ukraine has any "red lines" in potential talks with Russia. He replied that the red line for Ukraine is recognizing the occupied territories of Ukraine as belonging to Russia. However, he added, that Ukraine will not agree to this.

Zelensky emphasized that currently, a total ceasefire "on the land, at sea and in the sky" is crucial. As he added, Ukraine needs guarantees that the war will not return to its territory.

The President of Ukraine also demanded the release of thousands of prisoners held in Russia. - These are unconditional matters, - he stressed.
