Ukrainian drone strikes hit strategic Russian oil and airbase
Ukrainians conducted another successful attack on Russian fuel infrastructure. On Tuesday morning, drones attacked a refinery in Saratov. A series of explosions were also heard near an airbase close to the city of Engels.
The head of the Ukrainian Centre for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, confirmed the attack on the refinery.
"The Saratov oil refinery is one of the key components of the Russian fuel infrastructure. Its processing capacity is approximately 8 million metric tonnes of oil annually. The facility plays an important role in supplying the Russian army with fuel," wrote Kovalenko on Telegram.
Meanwhile, in the vicinity of the city of Engels, in Saratov Oblast, several explosions were heard. An airbase there hosts Russian strategic bombers. Russian Telegram channels, citing reports from local residents, noted at least 11 explosions.
