Russian military blogger Ilya Tumanov, who runs the "Fighterbomber" channel on Telegram, published the drone footage, which he claims depicts a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet. The footage has been described as the "first shots of the F-16 in action".

Although the authenticity of the material has yet to be independently verified, Ukrainian sources confirm that F-16s are active on the front lines. These aircraft are being utilized for precise air-to-ground operations against Russian command centers and logistical hubs.

The footage, which surfaced online, shows an F-16 over the Sumy region, recorded by a Russian Orlan reconnaissance drone. This event highlights Moscow's growing concerns about Ukraine's enhanced air capabilities.

The Defence Blog portal explains that the publication of this material by Russian sources indicates rising tensions related to the modernization of Ukraine's air force. Russia fears that the new fighter jets could significantly impact the course of the conflict.

It's worth noting that the Ukrainian F-16s are now a key element of the country's defence strategy, which could change the dynamics of warfare on the eastern border.

F-16 in Ukraine

Let us recall that the F-16 fighter jets provided to Ukraine are designs capable of reaching speeds of about 2,500 km/h, which grants them considerable mobility. It is also worth highlighting that the mass of an F-16 is 8,000 kg, contributing to their exceptional agility. These American fighters are renowned for their excellent manoeuvrability, making them extremely effective in combat operations.

F-16s are equipped with ammunition mounted on weapon stations located under the fuselage. Various types of guided missiles, such as the AGM-65 Maverick or AIM-120 AMRAAM, as well as bombs, can be mounted on these stations.

An F-16 can ascend to an altitude of up to 15 km. Its standard range is 3,200 km, but with additional fuel tanks, this can be increased by an additional 1,000 km.
