In the media covering military topics, a report prepared by the 38th Scientific-Research Institute of Armoured Vehicles of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation did not go unnoticed. After analysing one of the captured M2A2 Bradleys in Ukraine, Russian experts highlighted that it is significantly better than the BMP-3.

M2A2 Bradley vs CV90 - Ukrainians give their verdict

In an interview for the Armia TV channel, Ukrainian military personnel from the 47th Mechanized Brigade discussed the capabilities of the American M2A2 Bradley. Their opinions were compared with statements from soldiers of the 21st Mechanized Brigade, who use the Swedish CV90s.

Among the biggest advantages of the M2A2 Bradley, they mentioned its very high level of protection, armament including the M242 Bushmaster automatic cannon and an anti-tank guided missile launcher, as well as a large troop compartment.

Regarding the CV90, Ukrainian soldiers noted its high durability, greater speed, high rate of fire, and the Barracuda camouflage that reduces the vehicle's thermal signature, making it harder to detect by enemy observation methods.

The best infantry fighting vehicles for Ukrainians

Both infantry fighting vehicles are rated as the best equipment of their kind in the world, consistently saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. They do not specify a clear winner in such a comparison.

Both the M2A2 Bradley and the CV90 are considered very durable by Ukrainians, providing protection against enemy fire and mines. The M2A2 Bradley offers greater firepower and better optics, but the CV90 turns out to be more agile and faster. This is not insignificant, given that the M2A2 Bradley is powered by a Cummins VTA-903T engine with 670 horsepower, whereas the heart of the CV90 is a 1,340-horsepower unit.

As part of the support from the USA, about 300 units of the M2A2 Bradley have been sent to Ukraine. The Swedes have delivered 50 CV90s, and an additional 40 will be sent to the front with the help of Denmark, which ordered them with the intention of sending them to the front as soon as possible.
