Ukrainian naval drone makes history, downs Russian Su‑30 jet

"For the first time in the world, HUR military destroyed an enemy combat aircraft with a strike from the Magura naval drone," it was stated in the HUR communication on Telegram, adding:

"On May 2, 2025, a special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine of the Ministry of Defence, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defense Forces of Ukraine, liquidated the Russian Su-30 in the Black Sea - this is the first destruction of a combat aircraft by a naval drone in the world."

The attack was executed by soldiers of the HUR special unit, Group 13, using a missile from the Magura unmanned maritime platform. According to HUR, the strike on the enemy aircraft was carried out successfully in the waters off the coast of Novorossiysk, a port city where Russia is believed to be concealing what remains of its Black Sea Fleet.

"The successful attack on the enemy combat aircraft took place in the waters near the port city of Novorossiysk, where the Russians are hiding the remnants of their Black Sea Fleet," added HUR.

It's worth recalling that in 2024, thanks to the Magura V5 rocket naval drone, Ukrainian military intelligence destroyed an aerial target for the first time in the world - two Russian Mi-8 helicopters.
