Ivan Smerechanskyi, aged 31, flies a MiG-29 combat aircraft from the Soviet era. During the war with Russia, he has completed 200 combat flights. He serves as the squadron commander. Throughout military operations, he has lost many comrades.

The soldier's family emphasizes that they are awaiting a ceasefire. They are also keeping an eye on the actions of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, hoping the war will end soon.

"If any ceasefire comes, we will feel safer," says Maria, the wife of the Ukrainian pilot.

She explained that her husband would remain on active duty and wouldn't be able to spend the entire day with the family following the ceasefire announcement, emphasizing that it was merely a pause in the conflict, not a resolution.

Maria admits that people are tired of the war. At the same time, she highlights that significant concessions would be agreed upon by everyone if Ukraine received very solid security guarantees. These guarantees should deter Russia from further aggression. As for the territories seized by the Russians, Maria Smereczańska has no doubts.

"Nobody will give us back our lost territories," explains the 29-year-old woman, "They will stay under Russian occupation".

On Monday, March 24th, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, talks between U.S. and Russian delegations about the war in Ukraine concluded. They lasted 12 hours. The delegations were supposed to discuss "sensitive issues."
