Unlocking child safety: The hidden car door switch revealed
The car accompanies us in daily life, but we are not always aware of all its capabilities. An interesting fact is that car doors hide a switch that proves to be extremely functional, especially when travelling with children.
For many of us, owning a car is something normal. It is the perfect means of transportation and equipment that significantly facilitates the performance of various daily duties. For families who travel often, the car offers comfortable conditions and the ability to carry a substantial amount of luggage.
Hidden features in cars
Although we use cars every day, not everyone is aware of all the features they offer. Many of them are designed to improve travel comfort and enhance safety levels. Unfortunately, we are not always aware of the full potential of our vehicles, which means that certain options remain unused.
An interesting solution is the small hole located in the car doors. In the rear doors of five-door cars, there is a small entry point marked with a symbol of a key or child. It hides a dial that allows you to lock the doors to prevent them from being opened from the inside by a child.
The switch in the car doors - what function does it serve?
To activate this function, just insert a key or a flat screwdriver into the hole and turn. After performing this action, you will hear a characteristic mechanical click that informs you of the door being locked. Disabling this lock requires turning the key again, this time in the opposite direction.
It is worth paying attention to the type of lock available in our vehicle. Some models have manual switches that can be operated without a key, using just your fingers.
A similar safety feature can also be found in the form of buttons on the dashboard. However, their effectiveness in preventing the doors from being opened by children is sometimes limited, as it often takes just two pulls of the handle to open the doors. Therefore, knowing and using the lock function built directly into the car doors can prove to be a more reliable solution.
