Vance criticizes UK's migration policy, reignites old tensions
The Vice President of the USA, J.D. Vance, in a fiery speech delivered on March 18 in Washington, accused Western countries of being "lazy" and criticized the United Kingdom. He argued that the country is stagnating due to high levels of immigration.
The Vice President of the USA, J.D. Vance, was one of the speakers at the American Dynamism Summit in Washington. He took this opportunity to once again criticize the United Kingdom. He stated that the rise in immigration is a factor inhibiting the country's development.
According to the "Daily Mail", in his fiery speech delivered on March 18, the politician accused Western countries of being "lazy" and claimed that they are becoming dependent on "cheap labour" instead of focusing on increasing productivity.
Addressing technology companies, executives, and government officials in Washington, J.D. Vance stated: "I'd say that if you look in nearly every country, from Canada to the UK, that imported large amounts of cheap labour, you've seen productivity stagnate." The politician emphasized that, in his view, "that's not a total happenstance" and "that the connection is very direct."
In J.D. Vance's assessment, the United States is also becoming dependent on "cheap labour" due to "40 years of failed economic policies".
The Vice President of the USA ruffled British feathers
J.D. Vance is not criticizing the United Kingdom for the first time. He recently sparked outrage because, in an interview with Fox News, he described the United Kingdom as "some random country who hasn't fought a war in 30 or 40 years". These words were spoken in the context of talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about a deal regarding minerals. The politician's statement was met with a strong reaction from the British.
Previously, British politicians criticized J.D. Vance's words, who - still as a candidate for Vice President of the USA - stated that under the Labour Party's rule, the United Kingdom would become "the first Islamist country with nuclear weapons".
