One common reason for escaping warmth can be curtains. Curtains can block the flow of warm air through the room, leading to noticeable chilliness. During the heating season, consider removing them or replacing them with ones that don’t cover the radiators. Ineffective heating can result in higher heating bills. How can you avoid additional costs? Try the trick below, which requires only three items.

How to avoid high heating bills?

Curtains and drapes are popular interior additions. They protect us from the prying eyes of neighbours and passersby, and they also add coziness to a room. Unfortunately, they have a downside. Long curtains hanging over radiators may look impressive, but they block the heat from spreading throughout the room, making it cold inside.

You don’t have to give up on window drapes. You can simply replace them with shorter versions that don’t cover the radiators or use a clever trick from TikTok. Tallulah Hollihan shared an idea that improves warm air circulation.

What will you need? Two long sticks and some string. Tie the sticks with string on one end. Place the bottom of the curtain between the sticks and roll it inward. Position the rolled-up curtain on the windowsill. The windows will still be covered, and the warmth will be better distributed throughout the room.

This is not the only solution to retain warmth

Heating a large apartment can be challenging. Even when heaters are working at full throttle, the room can still be chilly. There is an easy solution! Simply place aluminum foil between the wall and the radiator. This way, the room will heat up faster and the temperature will become more pleasant. Remember to have the shiny side of the foil facing the radiator.
