How did the meeting go in the Vatican?

The office of the President of Ukraine published photos from Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting with Donald Trump, which took place in St. Peter's Basilica. The meeting lasted about 15 minutes. The photos show the presidents sitting across from each other.

Serhiy Nykyforov, Zelensky's spokesperson, reported that the presidents agreed to conduct further negotiations on Saturday. Preparations for these talks are already underway.

"It looks a bit like a confession"

Shortly after the publication of the presidents' photos, the first comments appeared on social media.

"No words are needed to describe the importance of this historic meeting. Two leaders working for peace in St. Peter’s Basilica," assessed Andriy Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"Most likely, the meeting was initiated by diplomats from the United Kingdom and France," reported Mateusz Lachowski, a correspondent for Polish Television in Ukraine.

"There is no better place for such a conversation," stated Vatican expert Michał Kłosowski.

"It’s always good when talks are happening. There is a chance that something will come out of them," commented RMF FM journalist Paweł Żuchowski.
