Zelensky, who began his visit to the USA on Sunday, will meet President Biden at the White House on Thursday. He was asked by ABC whether his "victory plan" includes negotiations with Russia.

He emphasized that this wasn't a matter of negotiation but rather about creating a pathway to a diplomatic solution to end the war. The focus is on bolstering Ukraine, its military, and its people. He added that only by being in a position of strength can Ukraine apply enough pressure on Putin to halt the conflict.

He also assessed that the war in Ukraine is closer to its end than many people think.

I think that we are closer to the peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war, declared the President of Ukraine.

Zelensky added that Putin is "very afraid" because of the Ukrainian occupation of part of the Kursk region.

Why? Because his people saw that he could not defend all of his territory, he assessed.

The full interview with Zelensky will be aired by ABC on Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM Eastern Time.

The Ukrainian president will participate in a UN Security Council debate on the war in Ukraine on Tuesday and address the General Assembly's general debate on Wednesday. According to reports, he may meet with former U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday and with President Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House the following day.
