EU considers transitional measures for Ukrainian exports

After 5 June, the regulation exempting Ukraine from customs duties on agricultural products exported to the EU expires. The European Commission is considering implementing transitional measures until an agreement is negotiated within the framework of the association agreement with Ukraine. The EC spokesperson emphasised that the extension of the regulation is not an option.

Olof Gill, spokesperson for the European Commission, reiterated on Wednesday that extending the regulation is out of the question. However, to avoid a return to pre-war duties, the EC is considering introducing transitional measures that would be in effect until a new agreement with Ukraine is negotiated under the 2016 association agreement.
