The small plane crashed within the grounds of Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight. A fire broke out at the scene, causing concern among residents. The accident happened on 12th April around 13:30 GMT.

"The Sun" published eyewitness accounts describing hearing a loud bang and seeing black smoke billowing above the wrecked plane. Firefighters from Newport and Ryde quickly arrived at the scene.

The aircraft was severely damaged, not only by the impact but also by the fire. It is known that there were two people on board who managed to exit on their own.

All occupants had safely exited the aircraft before emergency services arrived, as was reported in the local newspaper "Isle of Wight County Press".

Their health is not at risk, and medics diagnosed only minor injuries. Nearby residents were also examined, but no one required hospitalisation.

Firefighters used several extinguishers to prevent the spread of the fire. Once the fire was under control, a thermal imaging camera ensured there were no spots where it could still be smouldering.

Circumstances of the plane crash in England

The plane took off from Bembridge Airport in the south-eastern part of the country. During the flight, it clipped the chimney of one of the holiday cottages at a low altitude. It then came down at a campsite with many similar buildings.

The incident looked serious, hence a rescue helicopter was called, which was unnecessary. Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park remained open, and guests can still stay in the cottages.

Hillway Road is impassable. Police Inspector Alex Dale assured the "Isle of Wight County Press" that the situation is under control and there is no need for additional safety measures. Traffic will soon be restored.
