King Charles III hospitalized amid cancer treatment effects
As reported by Buckingham Palace, King Charles III was admitted to hospital due to side effects from cancer therapy. The monarch had to cancel planned meetings.
The 76-year-old King Charles III, who was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, was admitted to hospital due to side effects from treatment. Buckingham Palace announced in a statement that the monarch has already returned to Clarence House, his residence in London. For now, it has not been disclosed how long he stayed in hospital, nor what type of cancer he has.
"He very much hopes that they can be rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible," can be read in the published statement.
According to a source close to the royal family, King Charles III is in good condition and continues to work remotely, making calls from his office.
Despite the brief hospitalisation, the planned visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Italy next month is expected to proceed as scheduled. Queen Camilla did not accompany her husband to hospital.
