If you think mushrooms are dull, it's a sign you haven’t tried these with a cheese filling and bacon crust yet. This is a proven recipe for a party appetiser, a snack for a family gathering, or an interesting dinner.
The list of ingredients is not long, and preparing it takes even less time than going to the shop, and the end result will delight everyone. Even the picky aunts, who have attended many parties and tasted countless appetisers, won't hold back on compliments. Mushrooms with cheese filling baked with bacon and smoked plum look appetising right on the plate.
Mushrooms in bacon
The name of the dish doesn't leave much to the imagination as it reveals the two main ingredients. However, it is not just a mushroom wrapped in a slice of bacon; it also conceals a simple filling with cheese.
The addition of mustard and smoked plums enhances the flavour, introducing a sweet and savoury note and a smoky aroma. It's a perfect two-bite snack that will impress guests.
Ingredients:
- 1 onion,
- 4 cloves of garlic,
- 2 tablespoons of butter,
- Half a cup of chopped parsley,
- 70g cream cheese,
- 100g grated cheddar,
- Half a teaspoon of salt,
- 1/3 teaspoon of pepper,
- 9 slices of bacon,
- 2 tablespoons of mustard,
- 9 smoked plums.
Preparation:
Step 1. Wash and dry the mushrooms. Remove the stems and chop them finely. Sauté in heated oil along with finely chopped onion.
Step 2. Once the mushrooms and onion are browned, add the chopped garlic and parsley. Sauté briefly and transfer to a bowl. Set aside to cool. When the mushroom mixture has cooled, add cream cheese, grated cheddar, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3. Fill the mushroom caps with the prepared filling. Wrap them with bacon and brush with mustard. Place in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 20 minutes.
Step 4. Pierce a skewer through the baked mushrooms with a smoked plum. This will not only attach the fruit but also make it easier to place the appetiser on a plate. Enjoy!
