"I think it's a good move if they sit down. But I don't think he dares, Putin," Kaja Kallas remarked. During the Democracy Summit Symposium in Copenhagen, the EU's foreign policy chief expressed admiration for Volodymyr Zelensky, who called for a complete ceasefire and announced he would personally wait in Istanbul for Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

Will Putin dare to meet with Zelensky?

Kallas expressed doubt that Vladimir Putin would agree to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Turkey. In her view, while Zelensky has shown a readiness for dialogue, Russia continues to engage in what she described as "playing games."

Kallas reminded attendees that Ukraine has long called for a ceasefire, emphasizing the need to see genuine goodwill from Russia as a step toward meaningful progress. She emphasised that in the absence of progress, the EU plans to impose new sanctions on Russia.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump announced that he is considering participating in the Russian-Ukrainian talks in Turkey on Thursday. However, it remains unclear whether Putin will also attend.
