Russian authorities are examining ways to safeguard the domestic maritime market from foreign competition. According to "Kommersant," various scenarios are under consideration, including the establishment of joint ventures with a predominant share held by Russian partners. The goal is to avoid a renewed dependence on foreign companies that exited the market in 2022.

One potential solution is adjusting port fees to increase costs for carriers from countries imposing sanctions against Russia.

Furthermore, the authorities plan to introduce concessions for Russian carriers and companies participating in joint ventures. Such measures aim to bolster the position of domestic operators in the market.

Plans also include support for Russian transport companies impacted by sanctions. The proposed measures include subsidies for leasing, insurance, and the development of port infrastructure.

The authorities also intend to support the growth of the domestic shipbuilding industry, which is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Russian maritime transport.
