Russian drone attack on Kyiv injures children, ignites fires

Night-time attack by Russian drones on Kyiv. Among the injured are two children. Drone debris fell on several districts of the city, causing fires and significant damage.

What were the effects of the drone attack?

As a result of the drone attacks on Kyiv, fires broke out in several parts of the city. Drone debris fell in the Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts.

In the Obolonskyi district, a fire engulfed a car and the upper floors of a residential building. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, fire consumed three private houses.

Who was affected by the attack?

As a result of the attack, two children aged 14 and 17 were injured. This information was confirmed by Timor Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Additionally, in the Sviatoshynskyi district, there was one call for medical assistance, where medics helped a victim on site.

The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, informed about the rescue and securing actions that were taken in response to the attack. The city authorities are monitoring the situation and cooperating with the relevant services to ensure the safety of residents.

Ceasefire failure?

The media highlights that despite the declared willingness to reach a ceasefire, the Russians continue to attack Ukrainian cities and villages, causing the deaths of civilian residents. In the Donetsk region, two people were killed on Saturday. In Kherson, one person was killed, and two were injured.

Reuters reminds us that on Monday Russia announced a three-day ceasefire from 8th to 10th May. Kyiv rejected this proposal, offering instead a 30-day halt in hostilities as a starting point for further negotiations. Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilian objectives in the war that Russia began on 24th February 2022, with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine - writes Reuters.
