Russian-Ukrainian ceasefire talks hinge on crucial details
The Russians are being evasive about the Ukrainian-Russian memorandum concerning negotiations and a ceasefire. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated, "everyone wants to achieve it as quickly as possible, but the devil is in the details."
The joint memorandum between Russia and Ukraine is intended to be the initial step towards achieving peace. According to reports, the document will include, among other things, conditions for a ceasefire. The idea of the memorandum resulted from talks in Turkey that occurred the previous week.
It is not yet known when the talks regarding the memorandum will take place. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov was asked about this issue. A trusted associate of Vladimir Putin avoided giving a clear answer.
"There are no precise timelines for resolving this conflict, and there cannot be any. Certainly, we all wish for this to happen as soon as possible, but the devil is in the details," Peskov said during an interview with a Russian reporter.
Simultaneously, the Kremlin spokesperson confirmed earlier statements by Kremlin representatives that "Russia and Ukraine will jointly work on the memorandum." At present, the Ukrainian side remains cautious about the memorandum talks.
"The memorandum draft will be prepared by both sides, Russian and Ukrainian. There will be an exchange of these draft documents. Then, complex negotiations will take place to develop a single text," Peskov conveyed.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin commented on the memorandum and its content. The Russian leader stated that he "agreed with Donald Trump on the details of the memorandum." In Volodymyr Zelensky's opinion, this is "playing for time."
