The ceasefire between Lebanon and Syria proved to be short-lived. On Monday morning (17th March), a clash occurred at the border between these countries. In the exchange of fire, three Syrian soldiers and seven Lebanese individuals were killed. Fifty-two people were injured.

A video released online depicts the scale of the incident. It features a reporter from the Al Arabiya television station, established in 2003 in Saudi Arabia. The journalist, who reports from Lebanon and Syria, found himself directly in the line of fire.

While broadcasting live, shells fired by one side of the conflict approached him. The video shared online shows the reporter and his cameraman attempting to avoid the shelling's consequences.

When the first rocket hits the building housing the Al Arabiya reporters, the men start to run. In the background, cries and calls for help can be heard.

Ultimately, the chaos is brought under control. The journalist is among the armed men who are providing him with security. The recording indicates that the health and safety of the Al Arabiya reporter and his cameraman are not at risk.

A renewed escalation of the situation on the Syria-Lebanon line occurred on Sunday evening (16th March). The Syrian Ministry of Defence accused the Lebanese Hezbollah of murdering three Syrian soldiers. The soldiers were allegedly kidnapped, taken, and killed in Lebanon. Hezbollah has vehemently denied involvement in the incident.
