Shrek's cinematic return faces even more criticism
Unofficial leaks reveal that in "Shrek 5," the daughter will cause significant problems for the main characters. Fans are criticising the plot concept, considering it unoriginal.
Thirteen years after the release of the last instalment, "Shrek 5" will soon appear in cinemas. The premiere is scheduled for December 2026, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the debut of the first part. In this production, we will once again see well-known actors such as Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz. Zendaya will also join the cast, lending her voice to Shrek's daughter.
"Shrek 5" - What is known about the film?
The first trailer of "Shrek 5" has elicited mixed reactions. The criticism was mainly prompted by the changed animation style. Fans are demanding a return to the original style, comparing the situation to the well-known case of the film "Sonic the Hedgehog".
In recent days, unofficial information about the plot of "Shrek 5" has surfaced online, sparking considerable controversy and disappointment among fans of the series. The source of the leak is a person known on social media as MyTimeToShineHello, who previously revealed, among other things, Zendaya's involvement as Shrek's daughter - a piece of information that was later confirmed.
"Shrek 5" - The plot
According to leaks, the plot of "Shrek 5" follows the clichéd theme: "Shrek’s daughter (played by Zendaya) practices magic and accidentally transports Shrek and Donkey to the real world. And now they must find a way back because she doesn’t know the spell to bring them home."
The leak was met with a great deal of criticism. Fans unanimously considered the idea not very creative. This theme has already appeared in "The Smurfs" and "Looney Tunes".
