Submarine accident in Egypt. Video recording

The accident of the Sindbad submarine, belonging to the hotel of the same name, occurred just 1 kilometre from the shore. The cause of the tragedy is currently unknown. Local authorities and the Embassy of the Russian Federation confirmed that all the victims were Russians. The AFP agency reported that 19 people were injured, although local services mentioned nine injuries.

NEXTA published a recording on the X channel, which is said to be from the Sindbad submarine. Screams of panicked tourists can be heard as the submarine immediately starts filling with water upon boarding. People begin falling into the water. Then the recording abruptly ends.

It is not known if the recording is from the day of the tragedy or from another incident on this submarine. There were previous unconfirmed reports that the ship might have hit a reef at a depth of 20 metres and lost pressure.

This is not the first such accident in Hurghada. In November of last year, the tourist boat Sea Story sank, resulting in the death or disappearance of 11 people. The BBC reported that in February of this year, there were 16 incidents involving small boats in the Hurghada area.
