During a social media frenzy between Trump and Musk, former presidential advisor and head of DOGE accused the American President of being involved in the Epstein scandal, asked his supporters if he should start a political party, and strongly opposed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. In response Trump threatened Musk with terminating his government contracts.

After emotions on Friday cooled, Elon Musk reportedly attempted to contact Trump in an effort to ease the tension between the two. However, Trump says he is "not particularly" interested in reconciling with his former advisor. During a phone call session with American media on Friday morning, Trump said that Musk has "lost his mind," which prompted speculations regarding the possibility of the President cutting Musk's government funding.

On Friday, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to share a statement, credited to David Schoen, the criminal defense lawyer known for representing Jeffrey Epstein, in which he strongly refuted Musk’s allegation of being in the "Epstein files."

"I can say authoritatively, unequivocally and definitively that [Epstein] had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him!" reads the statement.
