Ukraine's "Spiderweb" strikes: 40 Russian bombers destroyed
The Security Service of Ukraine has targeted Russian aircraft attacking Ukrainian cities, reports the RBK-Ukraine agency. According to the agency, Ukrainian drones have already destroyed approximately 40 Russian bombers. The operation is called "Spiderweb".
"Currently, the Security Service of Ukraine is conducting a large-scale special operation aimed at destroying the enemy's bomber aviation deep within Russian territory," report sources from the RBK-Ukraine news agency.
According to them, SBU drones are targeting aircraft that bomb Ukrainian cities every night.
"It is currently known that more than 40 aircraft have been hit, including A-50, Tu-95, and Tu-22 M3. For example, in one of the video recordings, you can see the burning Biełaja airfield (an airbase in the Irkutsk region - ed.) and hear the voice of SBU Chief Lieutenant General Vasyl Malyuk commenting on the explosion," the sources added.
According to their information, this unique special operation has been named "Spiderweb". In the attacks so far, as the agency's informants estimate, the enemy's aviation has lost machines worth over 1.6 billion pounds.
Shooting down of a Russian aircraft
The RBK-Ukraine agency recalls that at the beginning of May, Ukrainian defence intelligence (HUR) destroyed a Russian Su-30 aircraft near Novorossiysk using a Magura V5 marine drone. This was the first such case in the world.
Moreover, at the end of April, a multirole Su-30SM fighter caught fire and burned in Russia. The estimated cost of the destroyed aircraft is 40 million pounds.
