Alarming escalation in Kyiv follows Trump-Putin talks
Right after the Kremlin and the White House announced the results of the talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, alarm sirens wailed in Ukraine. "Trains have stopped at underground stations. They are not coming to the surface. Explosions can be heard on the street," journalist Piotr Kaszuwara reported.
Shortly after the phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, an alarm was announced Tuesday evening, and explosions and anti-aircraft gunfire could be heard.

Sirens wailed about one and a half hours after the end of the conversation; the alarm was related to the threat of ballistic missile strikes and drones appearing over the Ukrainian capital.

Explosions and bursts of fire from heavy automatic weapons were heard by the PAP correspondent in downtown Kyiv around 8:40 PM (Greenwich Mean Time).

Trump and Putin had a phone discussion earlier on Tuesday, during which they agreed, among other things, that efforts towards peace in Ukraine would begin with a ceasefire concerning strikes on energy and infrastructure.
