Alien face in Antarctic snow sparks online debate
An internet user claims to have discovered a shape in the Antarctic snow resembling an alien face. The satellite image, which appeared on Reddit, quickly attracted attention. It shows a face with a half-closed eye, nose, and mouth sculpted in white snow.
The face was noticed in a remote region in the southeast of the continent. The mysterious shape can be found on Google Maps by entering the coordinates 72°00'36.0" S 168°34'40.0" E.
Although the user who posted the photo claimed to see an "alien face" in the snow, some social media users quickly compared the face to Megatron, a character from the Transformers series.
Others, however, were convinced that some internet users are experiencing pareidolia. According to NASA, this is a psychological phenomenon that makes people see faces in random objects where there are none, such as clouds, rock formations, and other unrelated objects.
The Google satellite image was already shared on Reddit in 2019, and conspiracy theorists claimed that the strange discovery was evidence of a hidden civilization—possibly extraterrestrial—living under the Antarctic ice.
Unexplored traces. Aliens on Earth?
This is not the first time internet users claim to have found evidence of aliens on Earth. In 2019, conspiracy theorists claimed they found alien faces, skulls, and primitive sculptures in photos of the red planet, but scientific evidence has not supported these claims.
US Air Force Major David Grusch's testimony before Congress in July caused a stir. He claimed that the Pentagon possesses remnants of spacecraft and has also acquired extraterrestrial biological material beyond our system. His words became a sensation among both UFO theory advocates and sceptics.
Major Grusch, a member of the Anomaly Resolution Office, emphasised that work is ongoing on reverse engineering these extraordinary technologies. However, The Pentagon denies his claims, assuring that there are no programmes concerning possessing extraterrestrial materials.
