Bayern Munich facing pre‑season woes as star winger sidelined

For the German national team, Euro 2024 was a special event. After all, the team managed by coach Julian Nagelsmann was competing in front of their home crowd. However, they were unsatisfied with the final result, as they were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to Spain. La Furia Roja scored the decisive goal in extra time, specifically in the 119th minute.
The tournament ended up being bittersweet for Leroy Sane. During the group stage, he only appeared on the field as a substitute but was in the starting lineup for the Round of 16 matches. The same was true for the game against Spain, but he left the field after the first half due to an injury.
Bayern Munich, the club he plays for, were furious about the winger's injury. According to the German portal tz.de, the club had advised him against participating in the tournament, as he had been dealing with groin injuries for months. There were expectations that he would undergo surgery and go through a rapid rehabilitation during the European Championship.
Ultimately, Sane decided to play at Euro 2024 and only underwent surgery after getting injured during the tournament. As a result, he will not be able to participate in the season preparations.
This is not the only problem Bayern face with their star player. For some time, there have been rumours that the club might plan to sell him. However, due to the injury, it is unlikely that any team will be willing to spend substantial money on him. After all, the player is valued at around 65 million euros.
