The internet is abuzz following Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the U.S. presidential campaign. Bill and Hillary Clinton have announced their support for Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate, emphasizing that Biden is a great patriot. Nancy Pelosi, former Democratic Party leader in the House of Representatives, also stated that he always puts the country's welfare first. Naomi Biden, the granddaughter of the U.S. president, also reacted.

On Sunday evening, Joe Biden announced that he would not run for the U.S. presidency. The internet and global media were abuzz following this announcement.

He made his decision known on the X platform. "I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down," Biden declared.

Shortly after, he added that he sees Kamala Harris, the current U.S. vice president, as the Democratic Party candidate.

Biden withdraws, American politicians "respect decision"

Hillary and Bill Clinton announced their support for Harris. "We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her," their statement reads.

Nancy Pelosi, former Democratic Party leader in the House of Representatives and a longtime Biden ally, emphasized that Biden "always put our country first."

First Lady Jill Biden previously shared a screenshot of Biden's post, which contained his letter. However, she did not comment; she noted that the decision involved many emotions.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama also commented on Biden's resignation. "Joe Biden has been one of America’s most consequential presidents, as well as a dear friend and partner to me," he wrote on the X platform. His wife, Michelle Obama, also shared the post.

Naomi Biden, the president's granddaughter, is also proud of Biden's decision. "Our world is better today in so many ways thanks to him. To the Americans who have always had his back, keep the faith. He will always have ours," she emphasized.

Kamala Harris speaks out

In a statement, Kamala Harris noted that she is "profound honor to serve as his Vice President" and now intends to work hard for the Democratic Party's nomination.

"We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win," reads Harris's statement, which appeared on the campaign website, not via the White House.
