Bill Maher's surprising change of heart after the Trump dinner
The host of the HBO comedy show, Bill Maher, met with Donald Trump at the White House. He did not hold back his criticism of the president in the past, but he changed his mind after the visit. Maher also received several hats with "MAGA" written on them. The comedian emphasised that the conversation was relaxed and full of mutual respect despite political differences. He was surprised that Trump used the word "loss" in the context of the 2020 elections.
Maher pointed out character traits of Trump that are not visible publicly. According to Maher, the president can laugh, even at himself, which was a big surprise for the comedian. The comedian claims that he has spoken many times with "prominent people" who do not make eye contact or listen to what is being said. He did not notice this in the current president of the USA.
Just for starters, he laughs. I’d never seen him laugh in public. But he does — including at himself — and it’s not fake. Believe me, as a comedian of forty years, I know a fake laugh when I hear it, summarised Maher.
