Cameron Diaz's return: Netflix lures star back to screens
Cameron Diaz last appeared in a film in 2014. A few months later, she married the lead singer of the rock band Good Charlotte and fully dedicated herself to her family. However, for some time, Netflix executives have been tempted to lure her back from her acting retirement. And they know how to persuade.

Actress Cameron Diaz was convinced to return by her friend Jamie Foxx, but ultimately, it was likely Netflix's financial offer swayed her. Cameron Diaz was to receive €18-23 million for her role in a film aptly titled "Back in Action." Throughout her career, she has only received such a sum for her role in the second part of "Charlie's Angels," which was released in 2003.
The Netflix production, which is set to appear on the platform on 17 January next year, will feature Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx), who, many years after leaving their jobs as CIA agents and starting a family, find themselves back in the world of spies when their identities are exposed.
Cameron Diaz starred with Jamie Foxx in "Annie", the farewell film in the famous actress's career for the last ten years. The musical received mixed reviews, and Diaz was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in that film. Diaz's retirement was not officially announced. The actress's decision may have been influenced not only by her love for the rock frontman and her desire to start a family but also by the fact that critics very poorly received her latest roles. For the leading roles in productions from 2014, Diaz was awarded a Golden Raspberry.
Nevertheless, Diaz considers the last 10 years the happiest of her life. In 2019, her daughter, Raddix, was born, to whom she dedicated all her time. "It was just the right time for my family. After Covid, we were in the house for a long time, which was amazing and the problem was we would probably stay there, we would still be there right now. People would be like, ‘It’s over’ and I’d be like, ‘No it’s not, it’s not over for me.'"
"So I had to push myself; my husband and I — my husband, who is the best — he was like, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family’ and supporting him in his businesses, he’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let Mommy ascend and do her thing.’ He’s like, ‘Let me see you do it girl.’ I was like, ‘Alright, here we go,'" explains Diaz her decision.
