Bottles with attached caps are just one of the many restrictive requirements of the European Union regarding the storage of drinks. In the case of water, the colour also holds considerable significance. Thanks to it, it is known how the liquid has been processed.

We should drink at least half a gallon of fluids daily. In the summer, we are even more eager to choose water, which quickly quenches our thirst. However, not everyone knows that the colour of the cap on the bottle can have much greater significance than it might seem at first glance.

The colours of water caps matter

In the market, we find many types of water, which can differ in properties and taste. We often decide to buy bottled water, but not everyone knows that the colours of their caps are not just the whims of the producers but also a sign that can tell us how it was processed.

Bottles with white caps most often contain processed water, purified using advanced methods. Blue caps are found in natural spring waters.

You can also buy bottles with green caps, which typically contain water with added flavour. If you choose the option with a black cap, it is worth knowing that it contains alkaline water, distinguished by a higher pH and medicinal properties.

Tap water or bottled water?

It is worth knowing that in our country, water companies are responsible for the quality of water that flows only up to the main valves, usually located in front of buildings. This means that water must travel a bit longer before it reaches our taps. However, this does not mean it is not suitable for consumption. It is worth ensuring the cleanliness of the pipes in our homes.

Water utilities encourage residents to drink water straight from the tap because it meets very strict criteria.

Many people still prefer bottled water. However, in the summer, it is particularly important to be cautious because harmful substances can seep into the liquid under high temperatures.

It should be noted, however, that they are dangerous only in enormous quantities. It is assumed that one would have to drink even hundreds of gallons of this type of water daily for it to pose a real threat to our health.
