Cauliflower steaks: A veggie twist on traditional beef dishes
Do steaks immediately bring to mind a meat dish? Vegetarian recipes prove that even beef can be replaced with alternatives. Vegetables work well in this role. It's an idea for a much lighter and more affordable dinner.
Cauliflower steaks are a good alternative to traditional meat dishes. Like those made from beef, they are straightforward to prepare and do not require many additional ingredients. However, in this case, concerns about how well-cooked it is are not applicable. They can be served with classic dinner sides or simply with bread.
What dishes can be made with cauliflower?
A few years ago, cauliflower was most commonly associated with one dish. For a long time, it was often treated as a side dish or an evening meal. You just had to boil it and then fry it in a pan with breadcrumbs. This method still has many fans. However, it must be acknowledged that the repertoire of cauliflower dishes has expanded significantly recently. We use it for salads, soups, and even replace rice with it in risotto or prepare a pizza crust. You can also make steaks out of it.
Cauliflower and its properties
The emergence of numerous new dishes featuring cauliflower is undoubtedly a reason to be happy. It's not only delicious but also healthy. It belongs to the same family as broccoli, kale, and cabbage. Scientific research confirms that eating cruciferous vegetables offers many benefits.
They are primarily an excellent source of natural antioxidants and also contain many vitamins, carotenoids, fibre, minerals, and phenolic compounds. When it's not lacking in our diet, it helps lower cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart disease. Thanks to its antioxidant content, cauliflower helps protect cells from damage and delays the ageing process.
