China launches world's largest car carrier 'Anji Ansheng'
China has launched the largest car transport ship in the world, capable of accommodating 9,500 cars. The vessel, named "Anji Ansheng," has just embarked on its maiden voyage, carrying 7,000 Chinese cars on board.
Anji Ansheng, the largest Chinese car carrier globally, set off on its maiden voyage to Europe, transporting around 7,000 vehicles manufactured in China, reports Global Times, a Chinese news portal. These vehicles are of the British-Chinese brand MG, which is among the most popular from the Middle Kingdom on our continent.
The transporter measures 748 feet in length and 124 feet in width. It is equipped with advanced energy-saving systems and intelligent low-emission devices. The ship is also adapted for methanol fuelling, laying the foundation for achieving carbon neutrality in the future.
The ship was built by Anji Logistics, a subsidiary of SAIC Group, and can accommodate 9,500 vehicles on board. The giant's transport fleet consists of 35 units, including 15 oceanic ones intended for foreign trade. No other car manufacturer globally possesses such a facility.
Car exports from China exceeded 6.4 million units in 2024, maintaining the top global position for the second consecutive year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China.
Data from January to April 2025 indicate that the country exported over 1.93 million vehicles during this period, marking an increase of 6 per cent year-on-year.
