China unveils ZTL‑19: Enhancing firepower and mobility
The Chinese army is introducing the new ZTL-19 armoured vehicle. Photos have appeared on social media showing these vehicles being transported to military bases.
In the last days of May 2025, the Chinese army began deploying modern ZTL-19 armoured vehicles. These 8x8 wheeled assault vehicles are part of the land forces' modernisation programme. The ZTL-19 is based on a modified version of the Type 19 infantry fighting vehicle, which is an evolution of earlier designs like the ZTL-11.

The ZTL-19 is distinguished by its modern armament, including a 105 mm low-recoil gun. This gun, made from advanced materials, provides greater precision and reliability. It is compatible with various types of ammunition, including armour-piercing and laser-guided projectiles, allowing for precise attacks on land and sea targets.
The vehicle also features increased mobility thanks to a new drive system and automatic transmission. The ZTL-19 is equipped with water propulsion systems, allowing it to reach speeds of 8-10 km/h in aquatic environments, thus increasing its operational range in coastal areas.
