According to the "Main Post," one way to assess an attractive salary is by comparing it with the average net earnings in Germany. Data from Statista, based on research by the Frauenhofer Institute, indicates that in 2023, the typical annual net income for single employees without children was 27,416 euros, which translates to approximately 2,284 euros net per month.

This is how much the middle class earns in Germany

The Institute for Economic Research in Cologne suggests a more complex classification of income. To be considered a member of the middle class, single individuals should earn between 1,496 and 2,804 euros net per month. The following are example income categories:

  • lower middle class: 1,121-1,495 euros net,
  • middle class: 1,496-2,804 euros net,
  • higher earnings: 2,805-4,673 euros net,
  • relatively high incomes: above 4,673 euros net.

It should be noted that the level of net remuneration also depends on factors such as standard industry wages, region, and professional experience.
