During the autumn and winter months, our homes become particularly susceptible to an invasion of unwelcome guests. Rodents like to hide in basements and attics, but they can also appear in other rooms, such as kitchens or pantries.

In addition to destroying food supplies and appliances, they can carry diseases. It’s no surprise that the moment we detect signs of their presence, we want to eliminate them as quickly as possible. We suggest how to do this not only cost-effectively but also efficiently.

Why do mice enter homes?

Warmth and easy access to food make homes a paradise for them. But how do you recognise that mice have chosen your home as their shelter? There are a few obvious signs.

The first symptom is visible traces. It's worth checking all the nooks and crannies. If you see droppings (small-sized) or remnants of gnawed food, there's no doubt – mice are nearby.

Inarguable evidence includes gnawed food items and noticeable reductions in your supplies. When mice are active in the attic or basement, there may also be a distinctive odour.

An alarming sign will be noises emanating from "behind the wall." They are most often noticed at night. You might hear distinct scratching or rustling sounds, for example, behind the furniture. This is a signal indicating that these rodents are exploring new territory in search of food.

This scent will repel mice

Many people opt to use natural methods, which are environmentally friendly and more humane than poisons or traps. A popular method, used by Americans, is dryer sheets. This product is easy to find in shops and inexpensive.

Simply place a few sheets in areas where mice most frequently appear. You can hide them behind furniture, in crevices, or corners of rooms. Their specific aroma makes mice feel uncomfortable, prompting them to avoid these areas. After a while, they leave for good. However, it's important to remember to replace them regularly as they lose their scent over time.

This method is not only simple and effective but also safe for children and pets. Additionally, it can be combined with other mouse-repellent methods, which only increases the effectiveness of the entire operation.
