Drone blitz hits key Russian military sites in Crimea
Recordings have emerged online showing fire and explosions in Russian-occupied Crimea. Crimean channels on social media report drone attacks on local military facilities.
According to sources from occupied Crimea operating on Telegram, there was a massive drone attack on Russian military facilities last night and this morning. The strikes were reported to be precise and aimed at specific targets.
Available recordings online show fire and explosions. Regular explosions can also be heard.
War blogger and former Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko, citing social media channels in Crimea, indicates that there was a detonation resulting from drone activity.
There have been reports about an ammunitions depot being hit and secondary detonations resulting from that – wrote Gerashchenko on platform X.
The Ukrainian armed forces have not yet confirmed the attack on Russian military facilities stationed in Crimea. The final effects of the drone attack are also unknown.
The bombing of Crimea could have been in retaliation for an attack that the Russians carried out on Zaporizhzhia. Russian forces carried out heavy shelling of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia. A total of 150 drones participated in the attack. Ukrainska Pravda reports that 29 people were injured, and one person died.
Ukrainian air defence shot down 64 military aircraft. Significant damage was also recorded among civilian structures in the east, north, and centre of the country.
Many of the reports from Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.
