Earthquake strikes off Japan's Hokkaido coast; No casualties

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred off the coast of Japan's Hokkaido island.

- The tremors occurred at 9:37 AM Greenwich Mean Time, reported the Japan Meteorological Agency. The epicentre was located southeast of the city of Kushiro at a depth of 19 kilometres.

Earthquake in Japan. No reports of casualties

Japan's national broadcaster reports that strong tremors were felt in many places. However, there are currently no reports of damage or casualties. Aftershocks continue to occur at the site.

There was no tsunami warning.
