Pollution and foul odours from the toilet can keep even the most diligent housewife up at night. Have you ever wondered how to tackle this problem using household remedies? We have a simple and effective solution.

Cleaning the toilet bowl should not be overlooked in your cleaning routine. A well-maintained, clean, and pleasantly fragrant toilet is essential. It requires more attention than other areas of the home as it is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. However, there's no need to spend a fortune on expensive cleaning products. You can easily make a freshening agent at home with just a few ingredients.

A pleasant scent from the toilet using this trick

For this simple method of keeping your toilet fresh and clean, you will primarily need a bar of soap. While you can use a new bar, for the sake of the environment, it’s better to use the remnants of used soaps that often end up being discarded. You will also need bicarbonate of soda and water. For added fragrance, consider adding a few drops of essential oil.

Grate the soap and add 2-3 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda. Combine these ingredients, then add a little water and shape into medium-sized balls. You will have several pieces, which you can store in the bathroom for a few days. Drop one piece into the bowl. At night, pour over boiling water, and in the morning, clean the toilet with a brush. This will not only leave your toilet smelling fresh but also gleaming.

Soap combined with bicarbonate of soda has natural disinfecting and refreshing properties. This method is an eco-friendly alternative to chemical cleaning products. It benefits your pocket and the environment. You're looking after your home as well as the planet. By using soap scraps, you reduce waste.

Homemade toilet tablet: An alternative to store-bought products

How do you make a homemade toilet tablet? The method is straightforward. You'll need two bars of soap with your preferred scent and about half a litre of floor cleaner. Grating the soap bar into small pieces will help it dissolve more easily and release its fragrances.

Place the ingredients into a pot and heat for a short time. After cooling, pour the liquid into a mould lined with plastic wrap. Once it has cooled and hardened, cut into fairly thin slices - attach one or two to the toilet wall, and you're done.
