During the night from Monday to Tuesday in the Biskopsgarden district of Gothenburg, a tragic incident took place. Two men aged between 20 and 25 were shot in a parking lot. According to the Swedish police, as reported by the Polish Press Agency, active searches for the perpetrators of this crime are ongoing.

Witnesses of the incident noticed a third man fleeing the scene of the shooting. He has already been questioned by the police, but the details of his testimony have not been disclosed. Bullet marks were found on parked cars at the scene, confirming the intensity of the exchange of fire.

The Biskopsgarden district has long been a battleground for rival criminal groups. In 2021, an intervening police officer was killed in this area. Although the situation had recently calmed down, the shooting has again raised concerns about an escalation of violence.

Concerns about a new wave of violence

In the first quarter of 2025, there were five shootings in the Gothenburg region. This marks a significant decrease compared to the corresponding period in 2024. According to the Polish Press Agency, there were 15 shootings that year.

The shooting in Gothenburg has raised fears of a potential increase in gang-related violence. In such cases, acts of retaliation often occur, potentially leading to further tragedies. However, it's worth noting that in 2024, Sweden recorded about 20% fewer shootings than the previous year, indicating a positive trend in the fight against crime.
