The administration of Donald Trump intensifies its conflict with Harvard University, threatening to revoke the right to admit international students, writes the German newspaper "Die Welt." Secretary Kristi Noem has demanded documentation from the university concerning the alleged “illegal and violent” actions of students with visas.

Harvard, as reported by "Welt English News," rejects these accusations, emphasising its independence and the right to protest.

Noem also announced that the department will withhold two grants totalling $2.7 (€2.4) million for Harvard. She accused the university of promoting “anti-American, pro-Hamas ideology.”

Harvard responded that it fights against anti-Semitism and other prejudices while protecting academic freedom.

Harvard vs. Trump. Conflict escalates

The conflict is escalating, and the Trump administration also intends to revoke Harvard's tax-exempt status.

In response to student protests against Israel's actions in Gaza, the Trump administration had previously threatened other universities, including Columbia and Princeton, with freezing funds.

According to the administration, these protests often take the form of anti-Semitic actions. Harvard rejected the government's demands, which the university claims would violate its autonomy.
