  • At least 60 people were killed on Monday in several Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon's eastern province of Baalbek, according to the Ministry of Health in Beirut. The death toll may rise, noted Baalbek province governor Bachir Khodr. This was the bloodiest day for the Baalbek region since the beginning of the war. Israel attacked at least 12 towns, with two children among the victims.
  • "We do not know who will win the presidential elections in the USA, but we consider every risk," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking from the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik in response to a question about a possible victory for Donald Trump.
  • Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu said on Monday that Moldovan law enforcement conducted over 800 searches and confiscated more than 50 million Moldovan lei (€2.6 million) as part of investigations into voter bribery.
  • The Israeli parliament passed a law on Monday by an overwhelming majority that bans the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in the country. Israel has long criticised this organisation, accusing its employees of participating in the Hamas attack on 7th October.
  • On Monday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer suggested that taxes would need to rise to rebuild public services and repair the economic foundations. Before taking office in July, Starmer had promised that major taxes would not be raised.
  • On Monday, the Serbian government adopted a draft law recognising Kosovo - the country's former province, whose independence Belgrade has not acknowledged since it was declared - as an "area of special social protection." The measure aims to prevent Serbs from leaving their homes in Kosovo en masse.
  • The United States will allocate over $572 million for humanitarian aid in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Niger, and Nigeria, announced USAID administrator Samantha Power on platform X on Monday.
  • On Monday, Czech President Petr Pavel posthumously awarded Pope John Paul II the second highest state honour, the Order of Tomáš G. Masaryk. The awarding of state honours culminated the celebrations marking the 106th anniversary of Czechoslovakia's founding.
