Israel has resumed bombing the Gaza Strip following a brief pause linked to the release of a hostage by Hamas. A hospital was attacked, where patients, including a journalist, were killed. The conflict in the region continues to escalate.
Main information
- Israel resumed bombing the Gaza Strip after the release of a hostage.
- The attack targeted a hospital in Khan Yunis, where a journalist was killed.
- Hamas accuses Israel of killing civilians and a journalist.
The Israeli army resumed bombing the Gaza Strip overnight from Monday to Tuesday. These actions followed the release of an Israeli-American hostage by Hamas. Among the targets attacked was a hospital in Khan Yunis.
Hamas exploits civilian infrastructure while brutally endangering the Gazan population – cynically using an active hospital as a shelter for planning and executing murderous terrorist attacks in a direct violation of international law – reported representatives of the Israeli military.
The Hamas authorities claim that in the hospital attack, several patients and journalist Hasan Aslih were killed. Hamas notes that Hasan Aslih was the director of the Palestinian news agency Alam24. Israel, on the other hand, argues that Aslih was a terrorist operating under the guise of a journalist. The deceased man was in the hospital, where he ended up following an Israeli attack on 7th April, in which two other journalists lost their lives.
Escalation of conflict
Following the attack on 7th October, Israel began intense military actions in the Gaza Strip. Authorities in the region report that as a result of the conflict, over 53,000 Palestinians have been killed.
The situation in the region remains tense, and the international community is calling for de-escalation. Global organisations are urging dialogue and the search for peaceful solutions. However, for now, both sides remain steadfast in their actions.
