King Charles ends Prince Andrew's royal financial support

According to British media, King Charles III has decided to cut Prince Andrew off from royal funds, citing a forthcoming biography of the monarch. The prince's financial troubles have been speculated on for years, but pressure on the royal family became particularly intense when the king's brother's connections to Jeffrey Epstein emerged.

A biography of King Charles by Robert Hardman will be released on 7 November. However, the British "Daily Mail" is already publishing it in instalments.

According to the author, who cites his sources, King Charles ultimately decided to end financial support for Prince Andrew, including paying for his security.

The BBC notes that the king's brother may face serious problems maintaining the Royal Lodge estate in Windsor. The house was leased to Prince Andrew in 2003. The maintenance costs are estimated to be about €493,905 annually.

Andrew has reportedly been asked multiple times to move to a smaller property, Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and his wife lived for several years. However, the king's brother is said to have rejected these suggestions.

Epstein affair

Buckingham Palace has not commented on these revelations. However, the media reminds us that the pressure to cut Prince Andrew off from royal finances grew after the infamous interview in 2019. The Duke of York addressed his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the American billionaire accused of sexual crimes.

A member of the royal family was accused by one of the victims of sexual assault, among other things. In addition, commentators accused Andrew of completely ignoring the victims of the millionaire.

As a result, in 2020, Andrew withdrew from public appearances.
