Klaus Schwab steps down as World Economic Forum chairman

Klaus Schwab, the founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum, has resigned from his position. This organisation, among other things, organises the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Professor Klaus Schwab is the founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum, whose annual meetings take place in Davos, Switzerland. He is the author of the book "The Fourth Industrial Revolution," in which he discusses key megatrends shaping the future of the economy and societies.

In a statement published on the official World Economic Forum website, Schwab remarked: "Following my recent announcement, and as I enter my 88th year, I have decided to step down from the position of Chair and as a member of the Board of Trustees, with immediate effect."

Referring to his "recent announcement," Schwab alluded to his intention to step down from his position, which was announced in May 2024.

The World Economic Forum was established in 1971 at the initiative of Klaus Schwab. It is a non-profit organisation that organises an annual conference in Davos, Switzerland. This event brings together CEOs from the world's largest corporations, political leaders, intellectuals, and journalists. Around 2,000 people attend the conference.
