Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband, Michael Douglas, have decided to sell their spacious mansion. The star couple bought the property for €4.25 million but are selling it for significantly more. The actress revealed the reason for selling the flat.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are among Hollywood's most recognisable couples. In 2019, the couple decided to buy a four-story New York property. The actress admitted in an interview with "The Wall Street Journal" that her family spent many wonderful moments in the residence. Despite this, it turns out that now is the best time to sell the mansion.

Zeta-Jones and Douglas's children started university a few years ago and moved out of the house, so the actor couple decided to sell the impressive flat. Although the property cost €4.25 million a few years ago, the couple now wants significantly more for it.

The star couple's residence is in Westchester County, New York, and the terrace offers a view of the Hudson River. The four-storey mansion was built in the second decade of the 20th century; it has 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Inside is a spacious living room, a marble kitchen, a recreational room, and a library with a fireplace. The entire property spans over 1,000 square metres.

Additionally, there is a sizeable garden in front of the property. The actress and her husband decided to add some amenities and enhanced the residence with a covered swimming pool and a home gym. This significantly increased the price of the mansion, which has been valued at €11.2 million.

In an interview with "The Wall Street Journal", Zeta-Jones added that since their daughter and son moved away for university, she and Michael Douglas are spending more time in Europe and Bermuda.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas met in 1998 at a film festival in France. Douglas, a quarter of a century older than Catherine, was captivated by the actress and reportedly immediately told her that he would like to have children with her. Although initially surprised, Catherine eventually reciprocated his feelings, and the couple had two children, fulfilling Douglas's prophetic words.

On 18 November 2000, Zeta-Jones and Douglas said their vows at the Plaza Hotel in New York during a lavish ceremony attended by numerous film industry personalities. They had two children, and their relationship was considered exceptionally successful for many years. However, in 2010, fate presented them with a difficult challenge - Michael was diagnosed with throat cancer.

In the face of Michael's illness, Catherine proved to be an unwavering support. At the same time, she dealt with her health issues, publicly admitting in 2011 to having bipolar disorder. Their relationship faced a severe crisis three years later, leading to a short-term separation.

However, the couple overcame these difficulties and rebuilt their relationship, reaffirming their marital vows. They continue to stand by each other's side, supporting one another in their private and professional lives, demonstrating the strength of their relationship.
