Why did the Lombardy businessman decide on a helicopter?
Italian media reported on Saturday about an extraordinary event on a ski slope in the Dolomites in Trentino. The carabinieri patrolling the hill near the Groste peak were astonished to see a helicopter landing by the ski route.
The man who emerged from the helicopter was already in ski attire and calmly fastened his skis before skiing down, as if nothing unusual had happened.
He really wanted to ski, but had a lot of work
The gendarmes stopped him on the slope, checked his identification, and requested the necessary documentation authorising a helicopter landing at altitudes above 1,600 metres above sea level. The 60-year-old businessman from Lombardy admitted he had no such permission.
The businessman explained that he has many work commitments and a strong desire to ski. He opted to fly his helicopter to shorten his travel time to the mountains. He also presented his pilot's licence and proof of insurance.
The ski trip turned out to be very costly
Due to the unauthorised flight, the carabinieri fined him 2,000 euros. The businessman evidently lost his enthusiasm for skiing after that. He unfastened his skis and flew home.
