The President of Ukraine said on Thursday that the nearly €7 billion in military aid promised by the United States will help his country achieve victory over Russia. Volodymyr Zelensky commented on this promise on social media. He declared that his country would use these funds in the "most effective and transparent way."

US President Joe Biden announced on Thursday that Kyiv can expect further financial support from the USA. He promised increased supplies for Ukraine, including nearly €7 billion in military equipment and new long-range ammunition.

This declaration was made before a meeting between the President of the United States and the President of Ukraine at the White House. However, there was not a word in this promise about the much-anticipated "green light" for Kyiv to launch American long-range missiles towards Russia.

Zelensky sees victory. The latest US aid is to be decisive

Biden said, "Today, I am announcing a surge in security assistance for Ukraine and a series of additional actions to help Ukraine win this war."

President Zelensky responded with an optimistic statement. He announced that this would help his country achieve victory over Russia.

"We will use this assistance in the most effective and transparent way possible to achieve our main common goal: a victorious Ukraine, a just and lasting peace, and transatlantic security" - wrote Zelensky in a social media post.

American media reported the plan to increase aid earlier. Reuters reported on 25 September, citing two American officials, that the United States is preparing a military aid package for Ukraine worth over €7 billion.

As the agency conveyed, €2.15 billion will be provided as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. The second package will include ammunition, anti-drone weapons, and materials supporting ammunition production in Ukraine.

Reuters also confirmed that this package will include a medium-range glide bomb known as the Joint Standoff Weapon. The missile can be dropped from F-16 fighters and has a range of up to 130 kilometres.

Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the USA began on 22nd September. The Ukrainian president spent the past week meeting with world leaders on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly. He addressed this forum on 25th September, calling on member states to unite around the peace formula for Ukraine.
