Putin's prized €57m radar obliterated by Ukrainian forces

The Russian Kasta 2E2 air target reconnaissance radar station (also known as 39N6E) is a mobile medium-range radar that can be used for both military and civilian purposes.

The Russians claim that the radar detects even low-flying targets from a distance of 5 to 150 kilometres and sees 360 degrees. Kasta 2E2 determines the flight path characteristics of air targets and flight altitude, which helps with their identification.

The data collected in this way is then transmitted to command centres via radio channels or using digital-analogue communication.

The Kasta 2E2 radar station consists of several elements, including an electronic vehicle, a vehicle with an antenna, and a vehicle with electrical units.

All are based on the KamAZ-4310 chassis. Additionally, the system includes auxiliary equipment, including a remote workstation allowing radar control up to 300 metres away.

Let's remember that for many months, the situation on the front in the Zaporizhzhia region in southern Ukraine has been extremely tense. The Russians constantly bombard Ukrainian positions with artillery and aviation.
